Choosing AI Apps

AppMeAI guide · 7 October 2026

Compare AI apps by the tasks you need, the cost of regular use and how they handle your information.

Start with one real task

Decide what you want the app to do: draft a message, explain a topic, summarise notes or help with images. Search for that task rather than only “AI”. Test candidates with the same example so you can compare their answers fairly.

Check the result, not just the presentation

A confident answer may still contain errors. Look for clear explanations, useful editing controls and a way to check the original sources. For summaries, compare the output with the input and check whether important details disappeared.

Compare limits and ongoing cost

Read the official store listing for free allowances, paid tiers and usage limits. Consider how many tasks you expect to run each week. A free trial and a permanently useful free tier offer different value. Check what happens when the trial ends.

Decide what you are comfortable uploading

Check the privacy information before adding personal documents, voice recordings or work material. Look for explanations of data retention, account deletion and whether your input is used to improve the service.

Make a small shortlist

Choose two or three apps that fit your device and budget. Try your example, compare the quality and choose the one you can use comfortably. Popularity is useful context; your own task is the better test.

Try a focused search
